In honor of Flag Day on 14 June, here’s a pattern representing the USA flag. It’s my intention to continue the weave-along (WAL) by posting patterns for the Union Jack and, while not strictly a flag, a maple leaf for my neighbors to the north. We’ll wind up the WAL with another patriotic pattern (possibly something French for Bastille Day, 14 July).

L1-3: RHS “White”
L4: CSS “Harvest Red” / CSS “Dark Country Blue”

Old Glory

Special Instructions—Three-Color Weaving

Using white yarn, warp L1-3. Tie off on 2-4 side of loom beyond Cr2.

L1-3

For first part of L4, tie red yarn on 1-2 side of loom, anywhere before Cr2; wrap yarn around pins 3-3.25 times.

First 2/3 of L4

At R11 change to blue (you can tie the yarn to the loom or not); wrap yarn 2-2.5 times around pins.

Last 1/3 of L4
(I used 1.75 wraps, but that proved nearly inadequate, so I recommend wrapping a bit more.)

For more details, see Simple Color Change instructions.
